The aims of this meeting are to provide a vision of how patient information in the NHS Care Records Service could be used for health benefit and medical research in the UK.


The meeting drew on the expertise available in the UK and internationally to showcase:

  • practical examples from real situations of how patient data can be collected, quality assured and integrated with other data sets;
  • what research can be done with pseudo/anonymised data
  • how medical research can be maximised without compromising patient confidentiality and public trust.
