The 2009 scientific meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Nephrology was held jointly with the Renal Association of Great Britain in Birmingham. The first day of the meeting on 3 September had a special focus on diseases related to disorders of the primary cilium; cystic kidney disease, juvenile nephronophthisis and related conditions. The very high quality lectures were filmed and recorded on the day, and have been made available by kind permission of the presenters for the wider audience of the renal community. They are valuable for the professional development of established adult and paediatric nephrologists, and are ideal teaching materials for trainees. This initiative was generously supported by an educational grant from Abbott Laboratories Ltd UK.
